Hello Donut Girl

I went to Taco Bell - yum! - and then went into Dunkin Donuts for iced coffee.

Another girl took my coffee order, then the lovely and friendly Donut Girl (who undoubtedly has a very nice real name I don't know yet) came on over and asked would I like anything else. I had been ogling the donuts, but hadn't intended to get any, so I said no. "No butternut and coconut?" "Nope."

Then I told her I'd written about her on my web site. "You're famous! You're known as 'Donut Girl'."

She seemed to think that was cool. She asked what the site was and I told her elhide.com (which redirects to this and is easy to remember). She said she'd check it out.

If you made it here, hello Donut Girl. Welcome aboard! For your benefit, and that of anyone else wondering what in the world I'm talking about, I'll link here to the posts in which you were mentioned, starting with the original one.

"Scary" - In which the original butternut and coconut incident happened.

"Donut Girl Revisited" - In which I lamely relate the next encounter.

"Morning Ramble" - In which I passingly mention having woken up dreaming about Donut Girl.

Here and here and here I just mention Donut Girl in the course of writing about something else, although that last one is certainly relevant.

So there you have it, the whole Donut Girl saga, as it were. Now I have unveiled myself to a somewhat non-shy degree. Who knows what'll happen. Nothing much, probably.

To this day I still think it's cool she remembered my usual selection, even if it means absolutely nothing but a good memory and friendly customer service skills.

Wow!! You are, without a doubt, very brave!

I tip my virtual hat in your direction :)

Yeah, no doubt.

Any chance she'll read all of that and think you're a stalker?

Damn, Jen beat me to the stalking angle... *lol*

I don't think so. If I were a stalker, I'd hang out over at DD all the time, instead of not increasing my frequency of visits at all.

The worst it can do is create more for her to joke with me about when I go in there.

My life tends to be long periods of sheer terror punctuated by short, intense bursts of sheer audacity. I shock people sometimes.

Good for you Jay! Although I personally wouldn't admit the dreaming about her part... some girls take that stuff the wrong way. Some chicks are cool and you can tell them they are attractive and they are cool with it, even if they don't like you. Other chicks freak out if you tell them they are attractive, unless they want to go out with you.

If she hides next time you go to DD, that is a bad sign!

Donut Girl, if you read Jay's post, be cool and leave a comment!

Well, it wasn't *that* kind of a dream! I probably wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise.

I agree, leave a comment, and don't let all these other people scare you.

E-mail works too, but a comment lets you say hi to the curious readers.

I'm curious. After donut girls reads your posts. She then decides she wants to go out with you. You go in DD and get your usual. She then precedes to fill your order, then she asks you out in front of everyone. How would you react and what would you say to the question since you say your so shy?

Posted by: becky on Sep 18, 03 | 5:33 pm

I would be pleasantly amazed, and I would say yes of course. That takes the most stressfully uncertain part out of it.

Conversely, by reading this stuff she would know she'd piqued my interest, which clears the way for her if she's interested, or she could shrug off if she's not.

Even if it puts me on the spot, the public version in DD is the kind of audaciously forward thing that would flatter and amuse me.

If she's here, reading this, I'd be more inclined to expect her to e-mail me, or see if I am on AIM, and go from there with things like real names and numbers, or with letting me down as the case may be.

Good Luck! I hope it works out for you!

Thanks! I was sure at first that you were either her, or prescreening on her behalf...

Posted by: Jay Solo on Sep 18, 03 | 6:43 pm

Nope.........I'm in Texas

Posted by: becky on Sep 18, 03 | 7:10 pm

I'm just disgusted that anyone would go to Taco Bell for any reason.

Hey, if it's good enough for Rachel Lucas, it's good enough for me. Yum!

Rereading Rob's comment, I must say that as opposed to hiding, this time around she did the opposite. I didn't even think she was there. She pointedly came out from where I couldn't see her and came over when there was no need.

See Jay, that's a good thing. She didn't leave a comment here, but I wonder if she remembered how to spell elhide. Did you write it down? Even if you don't go out with her, maybe she would still like to hang out with you some since you are an intelligent and verbose guy, and then you can meet her friends.

Posted by: Rob on Sep 19, 03 | 7:47 am

I was wondering if she'd remember it. Had I planned on doing that, I'd have written it down in advance, or had one of my cards on hand to jot it on, or something. Guess I'll find out when next I go there, and I can be ready with the info in case.

I would definitely hope she'd leave a comment, or pick up on my e-mail address and send me something, if she does make it here in the meantime.
