Where will the pre-election attack(s) in the U.S. take place, how long before the election, and what form will they take? For purposes of this exercise, assume that the fact of an attack is just that.

I have been saying for a year now that they will attack just before the elections. Probably in the summer time. They have to give enough leed time for the news media to spin it properly to the masses. I am not sure where or when, only that it will happen. They will not miss this opportunity.

I think they will attack the Miami-Dade Country MetroRail, with suicide bombers, in the last week of October.

Commuter trains and/or subways in large cities (NY and Boston come to mind). I suspect they won't use suicide bombers unless they can't do it by leaving articles behind. Probably late October.

Late September to mid-October.

Multiple target cities, say Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles.

The "Black Winds of Death" moniker, if that's actually from an al Qaeda source, makes me think something biological, though it could also mean dirty nukes.

And at least one attempted attack, probably more, will be thwarted by alert and brave citizens.

I suspect an attack on the Republican National Convention is likely to have the most propaganda value, expecially if the NYPD is distracted by idiotarian protestors.
